I don't usually leave reviews but on this occasion I feel like doing so. First time in Ischia (and I must say really wonderful), we were looking for a place to taste the authentic local cuisine, so on the advice of a restaurateur from Forio (Tiratardi at the port, Saltimbocca very good and he very kind, friendly and professional) we were directed to the Montecorvo restaurant. Since we were early, we decide to take a walk and walk from the resort where we were staying (about 2KM). The last 500m the road is a bit rough and unpaved so I would recommend reaching the place by car, but ultimately it wasn't a big problem for us. Having arrived well in advance, the manager and the staff still made us sit at a free table (45min before booking). We immediately feel at ease and the interior is carefully furnished with slightly rustic objects and an original style, too cute! After looking at the large but not too large menu (which is a good thing in my opinion) we decide on a revisited mixed starter which I recommend to everyone, each portion was really tasty (the person who served us the dishes was very kind and friendly as well as very knowledgeable on the recipes for each element of the appetizer and more). We choose a local wine from the also extensive list and obviously the reason why we were there, the Ischia-style rabbit. When we were served the course was immediately a triumph of softness and flavors on our palate, the rabbit sauce was sublime (to the point that I regretted not having chosen a first course prepared with the same sauce that had been proposed to us) and the potatoes fresh it was excellent too. In short, long live the genuine flavors of the past and long live Montecorvo which represents the icing on the cake of our brief Ischitan experience. To top it all off, the manager was kind enough to offer us to be driven to our resort by a person (probably family). I have never found a welcome like this anywhere. Unfortunately I live abroad and it is not easy for me to return to this beautiful island but the least I can do is make my experience as a tourist public and applaud Montecorvo in particular 😉. I will recommend the island and this restaurant directly to people I know in England because I think it is not advertised enough (it always offers Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi Coast and Pompeii). In my opinion, the bill was fair, neither too low nor too high, and I was also surprised by the quality received. In short, a little gem in the mountains of Forio.
