17/03/2024: Beautiful hut on top of a plateau at 2000 meters above sea level with a wonderful view of the Monte Rosa peaks and the entire valley of Ayas, Monte Zerbion and in the distance up to the Gran Paradiso group. On-site production and consumption of quality cheese, open only for lunch except on exceptional evenings in summer. Reachable only by excursion on foot or snowshoes, and by car only in summer upon reservation. The hot chocolate is excellent, thick as you can't find it anywhere anymore!!

26/03/2024: We felt at home in this family-run chalet where customer attention is the number one rule for all the staff. An entirely vegan menu complements the traditional one and, even for breakfast, they provided us with (homemade) cake and veg croissants, as well as home-made jams and homemade freshly squeezed juices. Swimming pool and sauna complete this truly charming chalet, located just 10 minutes from the cable cars.

I had a delicious toast with gruyère and smoked ham served with excellent french fries, hamburger with Tropea onion, very tender meat and homemade bread. 0 km ice cream, excellent strudel. Large and excellent quality of beers. The coffee is served in mug-shaped cups. Well-kept place, very clean, very friendly staff, good prices. I recommend it

Kind and attentive staff. A look at authenticity and a greener future. Average prices but proportionate to the quality. To try and try again. Top.

24/04/2024: Pleasant mountain hotel, comfortable environment. Very friendly and helpful staff, central location convenient for a walk in the town. The room is very welcoming, mountain style, but at the same time modern. Reasonable price.

19/04/2024: We arrived in Champoluc unplanned, having skied down from the top of the Zermatt ski area intending to stay in a mountain hut up in the Monta Rosa but were unable to make it due to weather conditions and time. Having initially struggled to find anywhere to stay (it was a Saturday afternoon during the school holidays!) we were talking to a man who, as it turns out, was from the Ski Club of Great Britain. He was staying at Hotel Castor and advised we call them for a room. When we called there was no availability but, as we were close by we decided to pop in for a beer while we figured out what we were going to do. We were welcomed into the hotel and the staff very quickly got us our beers and then proceeded to insist that they would get a room for us. They did just that, provided a nice big room for the 3 of us with great facilities. Having been on a long and sweaty ski tour we looked quite disheveled so we appreciated not being turned away at the sight of us! We ate in the restaurant that evening and found the staff and the owner very helpful and friendly. The food was great, particularly breakfast which ranks well up in my 'Top 10 Breakfasts' rankings. The wine selection also was fantastic, all of the wines we had were local to the Aosta Valley. In the morning the owner and his son, a ski instructor, helped us plan our 'escape route' back over the Swiss border, giving us invaluable advice on snow conditions and landscape enabling us to access the Cervinia ski area from Saint Jacques, just up the road from Champoluc, where we were kindly dropped by the hotels shuttle bus. We are incredibly grateful to the whole team at Hotel Castor for taking us in and looking after us when we needed it and we hope to come back to visit again. Next time hopefully planned and with more than 1 spare pair of socks with us!

11/04/2024: My favorite pizzeria in Champoluc when spending the summer in VDA. Very good pizza, one of the few round and shallow pizzas that I always manage to finish. Quality ingredients used. Personally, I have never tried dishes from the Aosta Valley cuisine here, but I promise to try them because seeing them served at the other tables they seemed really delicious. Ah, strictly pizza with Ichnusa beer and to complete the circle, for dessert, always faithful to the seadas. A bit of Sardinia in the Aosta Valley. Prices really ok, compared to other pizzerias in the town. I can't wait to go back this summer!

25/03/2024: Very nice evening in this charming restaurant located in the vaulted basement of the building located in downtown Champoluc. The service, local food and wine were top notch, good value for money! We'll come back!
