Baccanti In Matera

The food was not something special. The restaurant is worth visiting. The dessert was 30 minutes late.

Splendid location, inside a cave, expert and attentive staff, extremely helpful and kind. The first one disappointed us a bit.. but our choice may have been wrong..

This was my first Michelin star experience, I went a while back but had forgotten to review until now. We went at lunch and it was super empty which made it feel very exclusive and special - only a few other parties were there. The staff were polite and knowledgeable. Great service. Food was a little disappointing as we had better at a few other places in Matera while visiting that weren't star restaurants. Though the ambiance was great and I would go back just for that!

Beautiful location, very tasty food, especially the ravioli with both mushrooms and parmigiana! We preferred them to the spaghetti with garlic, oil and pepper, crusco and cod. Very good cold cuts! Special desserts to try! Would I go back? Definitely yes. The staff was very kind and courteous.

It is out best dinner so far on our south Italy trip. Pasta with good amount of sauces and just right amount of cooking. Presentation of the food is elegant. Waiters are so friendly and helpful

Visited a few months ago. Matera, land of stones, Matera, land of food and a worthy place to indulge in the celebratory rites of the God Bacchus! So what better place than Baccanti for a perfect food/wine combination in an environment that leaves you speechless as soon as you enter?! Using the term "location" is almost offensive and trivializing if we want to describe the rooms of the venue which are literally carved into the rock of Matera. Truly unique! Let us now describe the protagonists of this work, namely food and wine. In all respects, the legendary bread of Matera has a leading role, served hot and ennobled by a bowl of local oil from which we drew repeatedly! Crispy and soft...in a few words, sublime! As well as the breadsticks always prepared by them. From a beautiful menu, my partner and I chose 3 starters and 2 first courses, and then concluded with cheeses (me) and dessert (her). The first appetizers immediately made us reach the highest peaks of taste, preparation and technique. My sweetbreads glazed with toasted hazelnuts and black truffle were an apotheosis of aromas and flavours, skilfully prepared while also playing on the different consistencies. My partner's dish can be defined as a sort of Matera gazpacho or Matera panzanella, in reality these analogies are both misleading: the Cialledda is unique! It looks like a riot of vegetables, friggitelli, stracciatella and cod, combined with fresh tomato sauce. Surprising and exquisite dish. The Podolico caciocavallo flan with the legendary Pezzente, a local version of sausage, is also excellent for the quality of the raw material. If the starters took us to the top, well with the starters we sat down directly at the table in Olympus to dine with the god Bacchus! Some Gentile spaghettoni with caciocavallo podolico, cardoncelli mushrooms and bran powder (another Matera product). Divine cooking, enveloping flavor and a riot of aromas! My dish was an explosion in all aspects: a risotto with broad beans, mint, Forenza sheep and crispy black pork. Fantastic dish, very fresh, fragrant, harmonious, perfect rice cooking... in short, very good. Finally, I closed the food part of the evening with a plate of excellent local cheeses, mostly excellent goat's cheeses. From a monumental wine list we were recommended a pure Aglianico that Bacco (now our friend!) would have been proud of: I'm talking about the Piano del Cerro 2016 from Vigneti del Vulture. As soon as it opens, the unmistakable bouquet of Aglianico comes out, giving a truly unique fullness and elegance. Furthermore, this wine has an exceptional quality/price ratio. I closed the libation by drawing from a valid list of spirits, a glass of Berta's 1995 Riserva del Fondatore grappa made with Nebbiolo grapes from Barolo. A worthy finale for an unforgettable dinner.

A traditional and innovative cuisine at the same time. A symphony of flavours, an exciting experience, very high quality ingredients, a very friendly chef, impeccable service. Very very good.

Fantastic service, really fresh and delicious meal, exciting desserts!! One of the best meals we have ever had. Highly recommend the flan antipasto but everything we had was perfect. Loved our experience and can’t wait to go back.

Sono recentemente stato al Ristorante Baccanti e vorrei condividere la mia esperienza. La location è davvero eccezionale, con un'atmosfera accogliente e una decorazione in questa grotta che contribuisce a creare un'atmosfera davvero piacevole. Tuttavia, devo esprimere alcune riserve riguardo al cibo. Mentre la presentazione dei piatti era impeccabile, ho trovato che alcuni piatti mancavano di quella squisita esperienza culinaria che mi aspettavo come per esempio l'uovo cotto a 65°,la qualità degli ingredienti era buona, ma c'era un certo elemento mancante nella preparazione che avrebbe potuto elevare il gusto complessivo(forse il bacon). Allo stesso modo le costolette di agnello avevano una cottura perfetta, ma la marinatura poteva essere più audace per intensificare il gusto,con quella crema al caffe' non ha esaltato la qualita' della carne,ma gusti son gusti. Il servizio è stato impeccabile. Il personale era cortese e attento, contribuendo a migliorare l'esperienza complessiva. Locale da consigliare....e se ritorno a Matera sicuramente ritento con altri piatti!!

Una OTTIMA CENA . E tutto al top , dal personale, al cibo , all’ambiente, ed anche al conto - giusto in rapporto alla qualità del cibo ! Sicuramente un punto di riferimento!
