Excellent typical cuisine, in an ancient restaurant, which also uses wild fennel to give a particular flavor to traditional dishes. Pio, the manager and chef, a little rough, but nice, is always ready to explain his dishes, preserving the culinary tradition of S. Giovanni Rotomdo. I go there every time I can, and if I don't go it's because, grumpily, he tells me that everything is full and I should have decided first! Great Pius.

It is now a fixed stop. Truly typical cuisine, courtesy and quality of the food then friendly environment, reserved which is very commendable, no food waste, they are the ones who propose to take away the food that you were unable to finish! It is a rare place where you can still breathe the scent of the past, the portions are generous and the owner and his daughter are very welcoming and friendly people and the price is really reasonable! Nice and very characteristic place. Very welcoming family run service. Very generous portions, many vegan choices taken from traditional cuisine: in the typical starter there was an amazing dish of broad beans and turnip greens, and pan cotto. The orecchiette with turnip greens and the tomato and porcini gnocchi are also delicious!

Cenare a Chiazza Ranna è sempre piacevole purché disposti a mangiar molto e a sedersi a tavola sul presto. Il gestore infatti è categorico in fase di prenotazione e, anche se i suoi modi sono abbastanza ruspanti, risulta gentile ed accogliente. L'ambiente già dall'arredamento riporta alla mente le tradizioni del Gargano mediante quadri, fotografie ed oggetti di artigianato locale o strumenti di lavoro con diversi anni alle spalle. Esiste un menù ma in genere ci si lascia guidare attraverso una sequenza di antipasti basati sulle tipiche ricette della zona come fave e cicoria, il pancotto o la trippa con i fagioli. Vere e proprie prelibatezze realizzate con ingredienti genuini e cucinate ad arte, così come i loro primi piatti. Tra questo ritengo irrinunciabili gli strascinati fatti di pasta fresca trafilata al bronzo con pachini, salsiccia e scamorza affumicata. Come secondi, oltre ad un centrale di carne mista arrosto, suggerisco la muscisca, ossia delle strisce di carne di manzo speziato passate prima sulla brace e poi saltate in padella con l'aggiunta di aromi. Non esiste una vera e propria carta dei vini e la scelta è piuttosto limitata ma, se non altro, il vino della casa si lascia bere così come i loro amari artigianali. Il conto è molto onesto e spero di tornarci prossimamente.
