What to say. I was born in that city, I ate so much of that porridge that I grew up big. There are others who make farinata, perhaps even better (I don't think so), but that of the Mazzini restaurant is beyond compare.
3/3/2024 I returned after some time: I confirm what was said previously, also highlighting that a lunch at the restaurant is anything but unbecoming, but also a pleasant journey into traditional foods, still served at a table with a tablecloth and cotton napkins. It is not at all obvious to find such an environment (calculating a capacity of around 30 people).

Typical trattoria with typical dishes.. Classic farinata for those who have never tried it, a must try... I think it is the best in the area...
Other really good typical dishes..
Very few places so better to book...
Every time I pass through Acqui it is always a fixed stop...

Ci siamo fermati in diverse occasioni in questa trattoria e ci siamo trovati sempre molto bene. Cucina tradizionale, servizio alla mano e pronto a dare consigli, Farinata e cucina tradizionale, prodotti di qualità. Buona la degustazione di farinata e da menzionare con lode i ravioli al barbera. Prezzo onesto.

una "vecchia" trattoria, anni 60 pulita, personale gentilissimo ed una ottima cucina tipica piemontese con la variante della farinata - ligure.
Flan di verdure eccezionale, buone le tagliatelle con i funghi, ottimi i peperoni in bagna cauda da lacrime lo zabaione al moscato.
Ottimi i prodotti, buon rapporto qualità prezzo.
Da provare assolutamente.
Prenotazione quasi obbligatoria.
