It is difficult to find a place in Bologna where you don't eat good tagliatella with meat sauce or lasagna, what is difficult to find is a restaurant composed not only of excellent food, but also of an incredible staff, and an incredible venue, in short, something that make you feel at home. Before saying what I tasted, I want to reserve a thank you to Giorgio, an incredible and excellent host attentive to all the needs of each customer and to the cook (whose name I don't remember). First, we tasted the Tigelle, accompanied by Modena pesto and friggione. Really delicious. Next, we tasted three first courses: Emilian lasagna, divine; tagliatelle with ragù that reminds you of what your grandmother makes on Sundays; finally, the futuristic green ham and orange tagliatelle. Finally, we couldn't help but try the classic Bolognese cutlet, which in my humble opinion is the best Bolognese cutlet I've ever tasted. As regards the cleanliness of the place and the place itself, I congratulate all the people who work there. As if that wasn't enough, add to all this that the bill was really minimal compared to the portions and the goodness of the dishes. In short, I can't wait to return here to Bologna to visit this beautiful city again, but above all to return to indulge in some culinary pampering here at Hostaria San Carlino.

Excellent Bolognese dishes, characteristic venue and courteous staff. The only flaw from my point of view is the wine by the glass, a a little expensive for the quality offered...

One of the best restaurants in Bologna although slightly off-centre but still easily reachable on foot. Good quality traditional dishes. Great prices and very friendly staff.

Ottima trattoria dove si respira una bella atmosfera, dall’ arredamento alla luce, dall’ambiente ai titolari. Ho potuto gustare un succulento piatto di tortellini in brodo, buonissima la cotoletta, i contorni, il passito con le raviole. Ci tornerei volentieri!!

Excellent meal at an out-of-the-way hostaria. We ended up sitting outside as it was a warm night, and sitting inside, even downstairs, might have been a little uncomfortable. With our reservation made via Google/Fork, our table was ready for us when we arrived a few minutes early. We started with the Piatto di salumi, Tigelle, and a bottle of Bacche Nere. We dug into that bit of deliciousness (the lard melted into the Tigelle perfectly. For our main meal, I have the special tortelloni filled with pumpkin and my wife had the tortellini in brodo. All were very delicious and expertly prepared. The meal was finished with a wonderful bit of dolci - creme di mascarpone conscaglie di ciocccolato. The mascarpone was perfectly creamed and the cioccolato was just bitter enough to offset the sweetness of the mascarpone. If you are in Bologna, you own it to yourself to get to have a meal here. It is sublime.
