Pro = good quality of ingredients and very pleasant waitress. Cons = portions too small, dishes not very elaborate, price much too high in relation to the size of the dishes. Cafeteria atmosphere... Note: Supplement of 4€ for cutlery.

Excellent restaurant in the center of Volterra with impeccable and very professional service. We ate delicious crostini, octopus and a truly excellent red bean burger. The fantastic house bitters then closed our dinner. Very friendly owner who made us feel as if we had known each other forever. Well done.

Beautiful experience. The owner seated us on a Saturday evening even though our reservation was an hour and a half late. The owner is really super friendly and the place is really worth it! I work in this sector and I loved everything about it! The only flaw is the waitress, she never smiles and is very rude in her answers... the other waiter is super kind!

Among the vast choice of places to have lunch in Volterra, this restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who lives here and I was really happy to try it, despite the time... the staff was very kind and welcomed us even though we had reached the limit with the kitchen being closed, fortunately we knew exactly what to order!!!! La Vecchia Lira is a very characteristic restaurant nestled in the streets of the village of Volterra and offers traditional Tuscan dishes with an excellent choice of starters, first courses, second courses (also grilled) and homemade desserts. The pici with white Chianina ragù and the roe deer, chestnut and currant pappardelle were divine!!!! Even the dessert surprised us: chocolate cake as soft as a cloud with a truly delicious mascarpone and limoncello cream, not at all heavy despite it being a nice slice! The bill was absolutely honest, considering the quality and abundance of the dishes served, but what made our experience truly special was the warm welcome and constant smile of the staff. In a world where service can make the difference, La Vecchia Lira stands out for its attention to detail and the authentic love it puts into treating its guests. In conclusion, I highly recommend La Vecchia Lira restaurant to anyone who wants to have an authentic and memorable dining experience in Volterra. Notevolissimo ristorante nel centro storico di Volterra. Il locale era pieno zeppo per il ponte dell'8 dicembre e, malgrado questo, siamo stati serviti con velocità e cortesia. Un must quindi per i lavoratori che si fanno veramente il mazzo e spessissimo sono poco considerati e bistrattati. Un lavoro duro e difficile. La cucina è davvero ottima. Pici cotti alla perfezione (e non è facile), il ragù in bianco davvero al massimo. tagliata di cinghiale strepistosa così come il maiale. Carta dei vini interesante e conto del tutto onesto. Punto fermo a Volterra direi.

Percorrendo i vicoli del centro storico di Volterra ci si accorgerà presto che l’offerta gastronomica è numericamente importante e generalmente di buon livello. In questo ambito, la Vecchia Lira si colloca tra le osterie tipiche più apprezzate e di conseguenza frequentate e per questo motivo, se si vuole essere sicuri di trovare posto, è quasi d’obbligo la prenotazione. La cucina proposta è quella tradizionale (oltre ai piatti tipici di terra è presente anche una buona scelta di piatti di mare), le porzioni abbastanza generose e i prezzi onesti. Personalmente ho trovato buone tutte le portate assaggiate, pici all’aglione, tagliata al tartufo (forse un po' troppo cotta) e anche il dolce. Locale rustico ed informale ideale per un pranzo o una cena tipici. Molto gentili sia il titolare che il personale. Per noi è stata un’esperienza positiva.
