Upscale grotto with excellent food, friendly service in the upper price segment. Very idyllic location.

The food here is really very special. The location on the gorge is magnificent, and the restaurant itself is also very atmospheric. The menu is clear, the dishes are special and very carefully prepared. I invited guests for my birthday and was very happy with the evening. The wine list also offers a great selection; compared to nearby Locarno, the food and drink here are extremely affordable.

Nice location, nice and unobtrusive atmosphere and wonderful food. Yes, it IS expensive. But it tastes exceptionally good. Special requests, such as allergy issues, will be taken into account as far as possible. The kitchen does what it can, and the English-speaking staff helps where they can. I'll go there again 😁 Tip: if you go there in the dark, it's better to bring a flashlight with you, because the grotto is behind the church and the paths are not all lit.

We were guests at Sant'Anna for the third time and were really looking forward to it. The delicacies from the kitchen enchanted us again and were simply pure enjoyment. A big compliment to the kitchen - bravo. What really spoiled the stay was the service - unfortunately. It's not pleasant when you don't feel welcome as a guest. The young waiter didn't think it was appropriate to smile or provide us with friendly service. Again and again, when he stood behind the counter, the cell phone/mobile was important and pressed on it. A good 10 minutes after we had finished the main course, he was finally able to break away and put our plates away. Well understood, he wasn't stressed as there were only 4 other people present. Then he asked if we wanted coffee. "No, I would like another dessert", which is what we received. Then coffee and coffee bring the bill. For us that meant “please leave, I want to lock up”. We went out and went to the toilet (outside) and he followed shortly afterwards and went to his motorbike - without saying goodbye. Now he had a problem because (thank goodness) he remembered that we were going to the toilet and he couldn't close the gate. The motorcycle is running, he comes back, makes it clear to us with a nervous hand gesture that we should get out. A short “Grazie” and he was gone. After 2 and a half hours and a generous tip (28 euros), no thanks and we didn't even have time for everyone to go to the toilet. All of this is very unfortunate. We'll definitely be back because of the fine food, but hopefully with a waiter who knows his trade and knows what his job means - namely hospitality = friendly to the guest!

Reduzierte, handwerklich perfekte regionale Küche in schlicht-elegantem Ambiente. Etwas weiter draußen, die Anfahrt lohnt sich. Die eh schon kleine Karte wurde vom Kellner noch reduziert (zB keine schwarzen Trüffel da), aber es gab weiterhin hervorragende Optionen. Die Spaghetti mit Feigen, Zwiebeln und Nüssen waren schon sehr gut, auch der langsam gegarte Schweinebauch. Das Lamm als Hauptgang (auch das sehr schlicht mit Kartoffelgratin) habe ich so gut noch nicht gegessen, die Barolosauce war fantastisch. Auch die Desserts über jeden Zweifel erhaben, eine klassische Zabaglione und eine mit Pfeffer und Orangen-Olivenöl etwas experimentierfreudiger zubereitete Panna Cotta. Der Service konzentriert und sehr freundlich, der Wein hervorragend. Das Highlight unseres Urlaubs am Lago Maggiore und auch eine längere Anreise wert!
