Antica trattoria Del Riccio

08/03/2024: Today I was with my wife in Campobasso for a visit, and given the time was 1.07 pm we decided to stop for lunch, and after an overview of the restaurants in the area, I decided to go to the Antica Trattoria Del Riccio dal 1890. Once we arrived in Cantalupo village on the hills, we immediately find the location, small but clean and tidy. The owner Tonino lets us sit, and we immediately create a nice relationship like old friends, nice and brilliant people. We start with a typical Molise appetizer, with cheeses, cold cuts, and a slice of "exquisite" wild boar mortadella, an appetizer of local products, score 10. A polenta with porcini mushrooms, score 10. A baked cod, garlic, oil and chili pepper, score 10 and praise. Roast with porcini mushrooms, rating 9. Grilled lamb, rating 10 and praise. All accompanied with 🍷 excellent quality house wine, Aqua coffee and amaro. Excellent value for money, I recommend it to everyone, and for connoisseurs and good tasters, it is the ideal place. 14/02/2024: After a small excursion inspired by hunger, my boyfriend and I fortunately stumbled upon this small tavern almost hidden by the surrounding nature. A pleasant surprise, one of, if not THE, best lunch I can remember. Exquisite local food and products, of the highest quality, seasoned with the love and commitment of the staff. From the first moment, we were welcomed as if we were at home and flooded with curiosity we left the choice of dishes to the kitchen (to have a real taste of Molise). We were served with a really good surprise starter; Followed by two first courses, a cavatello with Molise ragù (to say exquisite would be a diminutive) and a plate of ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta with a cheese fondue with a heart of burrata and chopped pistachio on top. I would like to underline that all the dough and leavened products were produced by them. Even though we are not big eaters, we couldn't help but try a local rib-eye steak with a side of baked potatoes as a second course... in other words, the only plausible reason to explain the delicacy of this dish is that the raw materials are treated with care and respect. I want to say my last words by saying that few places are so welcoming, you could feel the love they have for their work. Now I'll let the dishes do the talking

10/03/2024: Lunch with a group of friends: Structure surrounded by greenery, breathtaking view. Tasting menu, an amazing culinary journey, each course had its own peculiarity and to conclude a roundup of desserts that left us speechless. Congratulations to the chef for this experience. Special thanks to Antonio and Tomas who pampered us from start to finish.

03/04/2024: Lisa and Agapito are a very welcoming and courageous couple. For some years they have started an economic, but also cultural, activity with their inn "Casa Pleiadi" in Sant'Agapito (Isernia). It is a more unique than rare experience in this region, outside the major mass tourism routes. Lisa and Agapito have chosen to enhance the quality products of the area, they source them exclusively from local producers, thus creating a short supply chain that enriches the area with economic but above all human relationships. Their gastronomic offer is of the highest quality and extremely varied. We tasted "La Pia", a traditional Molise dish with solina wheat, and braised veal, marinated in dark beer always produced in the area. We were extremely gratified and enthusiastic about this gastronomic experience and meeting Lisa and Agapito. We advise all those who wish to venture into these little-known but truly splendid lands to plan a stop in the village of Sant'Agapito, to visit them and live a unique experience. See you soon.

04/03/2024: Su consiglio di amici ho prenotato per una cena e sono rimasto molto soddisfatto, cibo genuino, prodotti a km zero e bene cucinati. Ottimi antipasti sia formaggi tipici con spezie aromatiche sia affettati tutto di ottima qualità, e loro specialità anche pallotte cacio e uova con polenta al sugo e bruschette al lardo, una delizia. Opzione anche senza glutine, con pane e pasta. Per primi piatti buonissimi tagliolini con broccoli e caciocavallo mantecato, e gnocchi viola con funghi freschi. Mio figlio celiaco ha ordinato spaghetti con ragù di cinghiale di buon sapore, con spezzatino di cinghiale e sugo. Per secondi bistecca di vitello locale, e bistecca di maiale, con contorni patate al forno e broccoletti buonissimi. Ottima la scamorza con tartufo. Per dolce una cheeescake al miele e mandorle freschissima e buona. Per digestivo di loro produzione grappa a pera e vaniglia, e nocino, entrambi eccezionali. Prezzi nella media, personale cordiale e veloce. Carta vini con ampia scelta, ho gradito vino del Molise di misto uva con 70% tintilia e 30% Montepulciano, di buon abbinamento con menù ordinato. Sala rustica in casale tipico, con animali nel recinto bovini molto caratteristici. Lo consiglio per ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Ci ritorneremo sicuramente.
05/01/2024: Iniziamo col dire che il luogo in cui si trova l'agriturismo è davvero molto bello e vale assolutamente la pena conoscerlo. Parliamo di un vero agriturismo, praticamente tutto ciò che arriva a tavola è prodotto da loro o quasi, dai formaggi eccellenti, ovviamente a molti dei salumi, le verdure, e persino il gelato prodotto con il loro latte. E' stata un'esperienza indimenticabile che abbiamo consigliato a tutti i nostri amici. Noi ci siamo stati una sera d'estate, è piacevolmente fresco ed ovviamente essendo campagna si può sentire l'odore degli animali per cui è un posto non adatto a chi ha la puzza sotto al naso, invece è perfetto per chi apprezza la genuinità.

14/10/2023: Very bad. Bean soup (canned), but maybe it's a coincidence, I keep ordering. Two spaghetti, one of which with cherry tomatoes and olives from a supermarket (discount store, perhaps). I say it's not possible, the reviews are all good, I'm wrong. I continue undaunted and go for the sheep's roasts. At least that can't be wrong, right? False. Overcooked, almost burnt, but still passable for a quadruped. In fact, they were left over, and I took them to the dog, who honestly didn't even thank me. Judge for yourself.

05/04/2024: We found ourselves booking in this facility for health reasons, the location is favorable, crossing the road you immediately find the Neuromed, the staff is helpful and courteous, the rooms are welcoming, we also found ourselves very well in the restaurant area, highly recommended
27/02/2024: Really excellent pizza, dough with crust that remained crunchy until the last bite! The place is a bar like many others, but if you don't stop at appearances you will eat a great pizza.

04/11/2023: We are back again at this beloved family restaurant in the mountains. Everything is so fresh and home-cooked by Mummy Mulino. The service is all led by family members and they have so much charm. White truffles in this season are abundant – at insanely low prices that would put the five leading restaurants of the world to shame. The food is so delicious – don’t miss the fettuccine with white truffles and porcini mushrooms and I have to say the tagliata - the sliced steak is amazing - and I chose to have that also with white truffles. They have incredible pizzas too – simply everything here is just so profoundly good in such a simple and authentically regional way it’s completely addictive – I’ve been done lots of luxury travel at lots of Michelin starred restaurants but this is truly one of my favourite places in the entire world.
13/08/2023: Personale molto poco attento (anche il pane abbiamo dovuto richiederlo). Antipasto "ricco" ma di ricco aveva solo il prezzo. Una presa in giro per il cliente. Titolare molto attento alla 'cassa' ma non alla quantità e qualità del cibo. Sono stato mal consigliato. Nota sicuramente stonata per la cucina dell'alto molise. Da non ritornarci.
