28/03/2024: From the outside it looked like a town bar and we almost didn't go in. Once inside, we are greeted by a small and very cozy living room with a wood-burning fireplace and quiet music. The food is the best of what we ate during our stay. Apart from the fact that the knuckle was very tasty, I was surprised by the visual care of the dishes and the flavor of the accessories such as French fries or grilled vegetables. Everything incredible.

28/01/2024: Locale accogliente, personale molto gentile e preparato, la proprietaria è una signora veramente squisita. Il cibo è a dir poco eccellente, in particolare i piatti vegetariani, curati, genuini, e preparati con molta fantasia e dedizione. Il pranzo o la cena alla Locanda Del Sole, sono la conclusione perfetta dopo aver visitato questo luogo incantato.

06/04/2024: Very beautiful and evocative environment, there is a beautiful window and in summer the environment outside certainly makes it. The waiters were very kind right from the start. We chose the seafood tasting in order to taste multiple courses. All the dishes were interesting and well executed, a couple of critical points regarding the cooking of the octopus (chewy, but very well roasted) and the bisque (it didn't taste good, unfortunately it ruined the whole dish) The dessert wasn't bad but the caramel was a little too forward and the ice cream didn't taste like much, but its function in the end was to give freshness and this it did. A positive note is the wine list, very extensive and with several important choices. All in all a wonderful experience, I felt very sorry for a waitress who unfortunately had no voice that evening, so she couldn't explain the dishes (in my opinion they could have sent someone else) It's worth coming!

06/04/2024: One word to describe this place: Impeccable. Many words, however, to tell my experience here at Life Bistrot 🤗 I went on holiday to Volterra and found myself on the first day of the restaurant reopening for the Easter period... I was very excited to "test it": the reviews were excellent and the photos of the dishes spoke for themselves. Expectations were even exceeded! The place is nice on the outside, I would have eaten outside but it was very windy, so I went in and... that glass floor with the Etruscan remains on display is incredible! Clean place, well cared for in style, humble and kind owner, helpful and smiling waitress 😊 For the first course I chose the ancient grain tagliatelle which were so delicious that I made the slipper! 😁 For the second course I wanted a dish that contained legumes so I chose the vegetable flan with chickpeas (new this year): nothing short of extraordinary! Even the strong garlic flavor was phenomenal, but maybe I would specify it because maybe not everyone likes it! I was already full but the curiosity to taste the chocolate and coconut cake won, and I did very well to take it: the heat of the cake contrasted with the cold of the cream, and I liked this a lot! In short, a riot of flavors, in defiance of those who say that 100% vegetable food is tasteless! I challenge you to come and eat here and say otherwise!! Excellent value for money, given the refinement of the dishes and the quality of the food. I would go back more often if it was closer. The only discordant notes: the cold inside the room; the rather narrow bathrooms could do with a little renovation.

31/03/2024: The place is built with bricks and concrete. At the entrance, on the floor, there are finds from ancient populations. The owner, like all the staff, is extremely courteous and helpful. The Margherita pizza is one of the best I have ever tasted and the desserts are also of excellent quality.

04/04/2024: The best gastronomic experience in Italy. Local restaurant with very well prepared food, all the dishes were delicious. Excellent service, super friendly. The atmosphere is very local and you will feel like you are part of Italian culture.

21/01/2024: Le vecchie cantine sono un posto in cui approdare per sentirsi veramente appagati. Grazie ad Alessio per la cortese e affettuosa accoglienza, ci hai fatto sentire a casa!!!! Consigliatissimi i ravioli ripieni di burrata con pistacchi e tartufo: divini! Tutto meravigliosamente speciale, un'esperienza da vivere!!!

03/01/2024: Questo è il nostro 3 ° soggiorno a La Vecchie Cantine. abbiamo soggiornato in 2 camere da letto apt in hotel con cucina 2 ampie camere da letto e bagno con doccia. L'hotel è situato nel meraviglioso paese di Chianni e Rivalto. a soli 40 minuti dall'aeroporto di Piss 1.10 a Firenze e a soli 35 minuti da Volterra. Alessio il proprietario è sempre al Front Desk o nel Ristorante per accolzarvi. Willy che si prende cura del ristorante è molto Freindly con tutti i clienti e sempre felice di aiutare. L'hotel è una casa tradizionale in stile toscano e imaculate. Vorrei raccomandare vivamente se siete alla ricerca di pace e tranquillità. Il cibo è fantastico. Ci sono alcune belle passeggiate intorno a Chianni e solo una breve 1,5 km a piedi per Rivalto This is our 3rd stay at La Vecchie Wineries. we stayed in 2 apt bedrooms in the hotel with kitchen 2 large bedrooms and bathroom with shower. The hotel is located in the wonderful village of Chianni and Rivalto. just 40 minutes from Piss 1.10 airport in Florence and only 35 minutes from Volterra. Alessio the owner is always at the Front Desk or in the restaurant to welcome you. Willy taking care of the restaurant is very Freindly with all customers and always happy to help. The hotel is a traditional Tuscan style and imaculate house. I would highly recommend if you are looking for peace and tranquility. The food is great. There are some nice walks around Chianni and only a short 1.5 km walk to Rivalto.

05/04/2024: Had a wonderful meal here yesterday - exquisite food, excellent service, and the best bread we've eaten in Tuscany. We had the Blu di bufala (Buffalo blue cheese) and Trancetto di baccalà (Cod with citrus fruits and puntarelle) starters followed by the Fagottelli di fonduta (cheese fondue ravioli with black truffle), the Spaghetti with octopus chorizo and the roasted endive (Indivia arrosto) mains - all were absolutely wonderful. The ravioli were outstanding and are a 'can't miss' if you do visit. Can't wait to go back when the outdoor terrace is open, as the views of Montescudaio and the coast are spectacular. A great place to go for a special occasion, or just to treat yourself or someone special. You deserve it!

25/02/2024: First time at this restaurant. Modern but sober and pleasant furnished room. Too bad about the noise when there are tables and they allow you to talk calmly with your diner. I recommended sound-absorbing panels. Chef Simone proved himself capable of combining innovation and tradition with excellent products. The tagliolini with pigeon and blueberries are excellent, as are the gnocchi with fennel, crunchy black cabbage and chicken bittarga. Worth trying, as are the non-trivial desserts. The service needs to improve. Still good at the chef. See you soon

27/03/2024: Voted the best pizza we ever had. ..by whole family. Soft squishy rim with wonderful aroma of bread, super thin inside....tasted amazing. Good prices. Place where locals go. Definitely a must!!!!!

Our room was beautiful and comfortable, either attention to every detail. The restaurant is amazing and had two of the yummiest dinners in Italy during our vacation. A great location to explore small Tuscan villages or to go to the seaside. Thank you Alessio & Riccardo!

31/03/2024: Nice place, very friendly staff and very nice owner. Good food even if perhaps some things are frozen and are not indicated on the menu, such as the white rabbit ragout. Other than that I would go back.

07/04/2024: Not bad food with a certain variety, generous portions, decent wine, free water, home-made desserts :) It's just a shame that they take down the shutters at 10pm... it would be excellent as a place for late dinners.

04/04/2024: A unique restaurant in which although we have to collect the dishes we ordered and "set the table", everything is done in a super friendly way and the food more than justifies this little extra effort. Very very good.

20/03/2024: Although a pretty environment, the food and service does not live up to its reputation. The bread put on the table was stale and old, the amuse of potato soup was lackluster, the starter of crispy sausage etc wrapped in phyllo was the best part of the meal as the parpadelle with wild boar was dry and farely tasteless. In fact, I am pretty sure nothing wild ever saw that plate. Dessert of milk pudding with caramel and fruit was just ok. Cannot recommend at this price point.
