We came here ladt Sunday with friends who live in Lucca and said it was the best seafood spot in Viareggio - IT IS! We had a lot to eat over a leisurely 3 h9ur lunch but the highlight was the Linguine Alla " Vecchia Vareggio" made by the Chef / Owner, Ferruccio, whom I believe is well into his 70's. He starts around 8am to make the special seafood sauce each day for the lunch service, and my goodness it is so rich and flavoursome and coats the mouth magnificently. Pasta cooked to perfection with baby clams, prawns etc., an historic mouthwatering dish that deserves a spot up there with the best dishes cooked in Italy!
Started with the prawns and calamari in a crispy, light batter, to die for, then the Linguine followed by tuna steak and massive gamba, then coffee and a digestivo, then a siesta!!
We return tomorrow to repeat our meal.
