Cammillo Trattoria In Firenze

The best meal in a week! Spaghetti alla bottarga was delicious. Very exquisite dishes and lovely decor. Expensive but worth it every penny.

Eating there since 1959 and looked forward to yesterday lunch. Sorry, now more of a place of too many, by far, tiny tables and a menu that was,also by far, too huge for any small kitchen. The Meal was not poor but not great and has always been expensive so not an issue. But it was my last meal at Cammillo.

Serving Florence since 1945 Trattoria Cammillo is where affluent locals go for homestyle cooking, though thanks to social media the space has landed on several lists with an associated influx of tourists able to make a reservation by phone since Cammillo has no website. Cozy with white-tablecloths and veteran servers, the arched brick ceiling stretching over marble floors, diners begin to arrive around noon for lunch when the same extensive menu as dinner is served until 14h30. Attesting to an older time, faded paintings and fixtures with a patina part of the charm, it is after perusing a large Wine list that Bread arrives followed by a selection of Cured Meats at a tab more precious than many but largely justified by the quality. Happy to defer an order to the waiter, a man who has been with the Trattoria for two decades, Tortellini en Brodo comes in a generous portion with good depth of flavor while Homemade Tagleirini with Ham and Artichoke Sauce is mild yet enjoyable. Faced with difficult decisions for Secondi, a number of plates featuring Offal juxtaposing Florentine classics, fans of Rabbit will find Cammillo fried version satisfying while Trippa alla fiorentina is rigorously cleaned and cooked in Tomatoes with a hint of Vinegar and Wine.

Very extensive menu, good service, perhaps a little expensive in the end given that it is a typical trattoria

Very nice staff, thanks to our romanian friend who was very kind to us and helped us with all recommendations. The food was not amazing, but was ok

We were a group of 4. Had 7 dishes overall and all were good or very good. But, to be fair, nothing was truly outstanding. For dessertz we had toramisu, which was the best of all dishes, a solid 4.5. Food ran approx EUR 30 per person. Overall, I'd come back. Reservation recommended.

A perfect lunch, as expected, having eaten here every time I'm in Firenze. I ordered the zucchini fritti, fagioli with veal in marsala while my guest ate the tagliata di manzo con rosmarino. Everything was served hot, and on time. The waiter was very busy but always had time to answer our questions. We learnt about the origins of the restaurant.
