Il Chianti In Roma

Our second trip to Il Chianti... We were there a few years ago, and remembered it well. 2nd time, we stayed outside Rome, and travelled especially to eat here. Had the cheese & meat platter - which was delicious, artichoke pasta, and the arrabiatta pasta. Finished with the Tiramisu. All was delicious

We ate well... then came mass tourism... and... Still acceptable but I have the impression they adapted to the market laws of the area...

The food was good. We ordered a plate of meat sausages that cost 20 euros. And they charged us for a dish with more cost. It had the same name but more expensive. We realized when we had already paid.

I give three stars for the service because the waiters are super friendly, but the owner(?) is not. I've been going to eat there for years and they have always been impeccable and kind. I don't know if they have changed management, but the last time (yesterday evening) that I went to pay, there was an embarrassing situation: a bill of €128 to be divided into three and we arrived at the checkout and we were asked if we had already done the division. , to which we reply that they were approximately €42, at this point the dubious owner redoes the division and they were €42.60 each and in the end he makes us pay €43 each. It seems absurd to me to stick to cents, with a bill like this and for a restaurant of this caliber. Including €18 for three bitters (usually always offered)

Atmospheric place with delicious food. Very good pizza, and the beef in wine sauce with purée melts in your mouth. Large selection of great wines. We recommend

Great food, incredible ambience. The only restaurant we could find near the Trevi fountain which was not a tourist trap. Five stars all around!!

We needed reservations here for dinner even in "low season," and there were people lined up trying to get a table. We had a terrific cheese and meat platter, pasta with wild boar ragu and pasta amatriciana (delicious if a bit spicier than typical for that dish). Also, we had some nice glasses of wine. Do note that smoking is allowed in the outside area and there were multiple people smoking around us including some chain smokers, which somewhat impacted the dining experience. One nice thing is despite its location you are set back a bit from all the pedestrian traffic near the Trevi. We will be back.
