Ristorante Grassilli In Bologna

We didn't eat at this restaurant but had the bad idea of ​​going in to reserve a table. We were very poorly received, and the waiter told us with great contempt that everything was full. So we asked for a reservation for the next day, and again the next, but obviously everything was full. In the end the waiter ended up saying "no, we're closed anyway", just to end the discussion. Small and welcoming place. The true Bolognese experience. Excellent food served by professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff. In the center of Bologna. It offers typical local cuisine accompanied by an extensive wine list which, however, only includes labels from central - northern Italy.

Update: I returned to this splendid restaurant and I must say that this time too it did not disappoint my expectations, the tortelli with potatoes were excellent, I also tasted smoked goose breast and crusted lamb chops, all really delicious. For dessert (I don't remember the name) a puff pastry with sour cream... it deserves a few more stars! Great discovery, I usually tend to avoid the restaurants in the centre, to avoid the tourist traps. I was tempted to try Grassilli by the excellent reviews and recommendations from friends. As a first course I tried the tortellini which were good but not exceptional. Then we moved on to a Filet Rossini, absolutely sublime, I don't remember having ever eaten a better meat dish! Finally an exceptional Montebianco (Montblanc) also highly recommended. I also tried an apple pie with sour cream, which was also delicious. The wine list was excellent, we took a Valpolicella which did its job. With desserts an excellent Picolit passito Good service, adequate price for what we consumed

I rarely write reviews, but I could not not write this one. I must admit I’m biased as I’ve known the chef Jean David for many years but I was surprised today to find him and his food evolved so much in the past years, more mature and rounded than ever before. If you really want to experience Bologna you must have a lunch or dinner at Grassilli, it represents the town and its people, with all its controversies and hidden gems. Like all good things in life you need to be deliberate and book your table well in advance otherwise you risk not being able to experience it but a little bit of planning will reward you. As for the food , I’m not in a position to give you any advice as I liked all of it but if can try to share the food and taste as much as possible, let them surprise you. A personal suggestion, leave you phones behind, go there with someone you care about and just let the food enrich your conversation, you’ll end up with some great memories.

Our local friends booked a table for lunch at this traditional Bolognesei restaurant located just a 5 mins walk from Due Torre. We loved the traditional interior with direct opening onto street. We ordered Tortellini imbrodo and Tagliatelle Al ragu followed by Cotoletto Bolognesei then Apple tartin with sour cream. All of the dishes were beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. Service from our waiter was warm, friendly but not hurried. The costs for 4 people including wine and cafe. €190. I would highly recommend this restaurant but booking in advance would be advised.

In una traversa fra Strada Maggiore e Via Santo Stefano. Piccolo, ma bene organizzato. Piatti originali e di buona qualità. Servizio buono e attento. Prezzi nella norma.
