Vecchia Osteria del Gelsomino In Roma

We were there last night. It was the first time. We asked to change tables and they obliged. Very kind. Delicious lard and chicory bruschetta, excellent gnochhi and linguine with butter and anchovies. Lamb as delicious as tiramisu! I'm sorry but I forgot to take photos, we were too hungry! Very nice location. Average prices. Highly recommended.

Nice typical restaurant, 2 steps from San Pietro. Traditional Roman food but also dishes for less demanding palates, however cooked with family attention and above all, well! There is also homemade pasta: we had the tomato and basil gnocchi, very good! The rigatoni alla gricia are fabulous. Above all, however, the kindness of the landlady, emblem of the popular sympathy of Rome that the whole world envies us.

Excellent and delicious traditional Roman dishes. Products carefully chosen from local suppliers. But what makes the difference are the people. Highly recommended!

Updated: Went back yesterday evening (first visit was for lunch) with 5 friends, and our experience was not as great this time. Service was quite chaotic and way less friendly. The menu names a plate of the day, but when asked they said 'no no, we just have everything' and then quickly walked away. Also one of the pastas was missing, we had to ask for that since they didn't notice. The pastas were fine, but not as good as the previous time, and the gnocchi was overcooked. The taste was good, but the structure really wasn't. The tiramisu was still amazing! Don't know if I would recommend this place based on only the last experience, it was not much better than so many other restaurants in Rome. Maybe it's the best to go here around lunchtime. ---- A really nice place, which has some of the tastiest pasta we've had in Rome so far. We were with three and all of us really enjoyed our dishes. Also the sides (veggies) were tasty, although the insalata was slightly more salty than what we were used to. We didn't have secondi. The tiramisu was amazing, would really recommend it! Portions are good; plenty but not too much, and prices are very decent. Service was kind, nothing bad I can say about that either. Would be amazing if the restaurant gave more vegetarian options. All in all a very good experience, we might return next week :)

You can eat very well, all genuine, amazing cheeses and cured meats, very good meat, I recommend it

Abbiamo preso diverse portate tipiche romane e devo dire che è stato tutto di nostro gradimento, servizio veloce, cortesia e disponibilità del personale impeccabile. Lo consiglio vivamente!

Cibo semplice,”verace” e ben cucinato. Ho cenato diverse volte in questa osteria e ho sono sempre rimasta soddisfatta. Oggi ho preso verdure gratinate, saltinbocca e carciofo. Alla fine mi sono concessa anche un ottimo tiramisù (classico, con il mascarpone). Consigliato se cercate una cucina che vi faccia sentire un po’ a casa.

Decidiamo di mangiare in questa osteria dopo aver letto le recensioni su Tripadvisor, confermiamo quanto già scritto. Tutto molto buono, in particolare modo i bucatini all’amatriciana e il tiramisù. Consigliato! Simpatica la signora, location tipica romana. Andateci!
