Excellent restaurant recommended to us by a local. The atmosphere is particular, a real discovery, and all the dishes we tasted in three evenings were truly delicious and well prepared. You can't be disappointed!! I highly recommend

We only went to see the grotto. It is possible to visit it between 10.30am and 7pm, as long as the room before the grotto is not reserved for a private event. You pay 1 euro per person. They give you a receipt that you can present at another time (I think without an expiration date) for brunch, lunch or dinner and they will recognize/discount the euro paid. The cave formed by the volcanic eruption is small but interesting to see. When you go down there are some explanatory signs but there could be more information about it.

"La Putia dell'Ostello" restaurant in Piazza Curro` located in the old city of Catania between the Duomo and the "pescheria" fish market for fresh fish. The restaurant is also located in the underground part of a cave where the covered Amenano river flows from a 17th century lava flow from the Etna volcano. Fabulous, very suggestive place, not to mention beautiful and unique. Dinner based on fish and shellfish, low tide spaghetti, traditional spaghetti alla norma, fried calamari, prawn tempura, ricotta turban desserts , warm dark chocolate heart.

"It's OK" There's more appearance here than reality. The food was mediocre and the ambience didn't live up to expectations. The cave is mini (approx. 40 square meters) and you don't eat there, but in the cellar next to the 10-step exit. It's really nice, you don't have to see it. There is better food elsewhere. Price/performance are OK.

Inseguendo un ricordo di molto ma molto tempo fa, chiedendo a bottegai, passanti, studenti di dare un nome al mio ricordo, al fiume sotterraneo ed ai tavolini di un magico ambiente sotterraneo, sono giunto a destinazione, non lontano dal mercato del pesce catanese, dagli Archi della ferrovia, dalle antichissime terme romane dell'Indirizzo. Gentile la ragazza del servizio che mi ha permesso di dare uno sguardo al fiume sotterraneo anche se in quel momento quella zona era chiusa. Il pranzo, corretto ma completamente assorbito per me dai ricordi, non è a questo punto veramente mportante. Mia madre diceva anche solo un caffè ma in un posto magico. È questo lo è!

A fabulous experience all around. We had previously that evening sat in another restaurant waiting to order for so long that we walked out, we had thought that being out of the tourist area we might get a better meal! So we walked back into the main tourist area, were seated immediately, ordered wine and food which both arrived promptly. Excellent service and one of the best pizzas we’ve had in Italy in the last 7 weeks we’ve been here. Highly recommend.

27/03/2024: Before, it was better when the pizza was made, everything else was fine
19/02/2024: I only stayed one night, I was in the area for work, very kind staff and sufficient breakfast, the bathroom is not heated but as I don't suffer much from the cold and since it's not a particularly cold winter I found it normal, the only thing is that I don't recommend it to people with children because the rooms are not soundproof and you can hear exactly what they are doing in the next room mainly when the couple thinks they are at home and decides to party all night, without the slightest attitude, it was like being in a movie.
