Al Calmiere In Verona

I loved this place from the first taste of their polenta and the experience even got better with the boiled meat cart! I was unable to appreciate the tiramisu; the sbrisolona is much better. Great service and very nice restaurant! I don't think I want to try different restaurants in Verona on my future visits!

I found myself thinking about this place today, nostalgically. Located in the beautiful and quiet Piazza San Zeno, on the outside it has the appearance of the beautiful trattorias that are so familiar and dear to me in Romagna. The interior is not regal (fortunately!), but it winks at a classic style with shiny chandeliers and another at the taverns with the wood stove and the large fireplace that cooks polenta. The wine list is not at all overbearing, the choice can only fall on a bottle of Ripasso. The sumptuous duck bigoli, the exceptional wild boar tortello. The trolley of boiled meats with Pearà, the real reason for the choice, I still daydream about when dinner time approaches. The staff is extremely kind, friendly and competent. The bill is certainly not fast food but absolutely in line with the products and service offered. Verona is a beautiful city and should be visited, but personally the first thing I will do upon my return will be to revisit Al Calmiere.
