Nette Atmosphäre, Speisekarte reduziert. Nette Bedienung. Leider waren einige Gerichte von der Karte schon aus, obwohl wir die einzigen Gäste waren. Die Gerichte waren mittelmäßig. Der Wein war okay.
Note...now under new management...We went for Sunday lunch and I have to say it was excellent. First off it is not cheap and priced around what you would expect to pay at higher end local places like Casa Azzurro or Misidia but you get what you pay for! The new owner has obviously invested in new glassware, crockery and cutlery all of a high standard. The interior is unchanged with its magnificent vaulted ceiling and tasteful ambience. The sommelier/waiter is clearly experienced professional, friendly efficient and very knowledgeable about the wines and food. WIne seems to be by the bottle or by the glass (not sure if there was house wine available) and is, by local standards expensive. We opted for by the glass since we had White with our fish based Primi Piatti and red with our meat based Secondi Piatti followed by a dessert wine with the excellent dolci. You don't get all the little frills of 'amuse bouche' etc but what you do get is perfectly cooked and seasoned courses.We shared the seafood based Primi Piatti since pasta dishes often overface Kathy buy we could easily have had one each in this case. For the Secondi Piatti, Kathy had a Vitello steak perfectly cooked melt in the mouth with a rich (not too rich) sauce. Surprised that she was not asked how she wanted it cooked but it was perfect -caramellised outside, pink melt in the mouth and juicy inside. If you want to go against the chef's judgement and want it cooked more ask when ordering. My generous portion of rabbit pieces , saddle leg etc. was casseroled and again cooked perfectly with just the right amount of sauce. Sometimes the sauce in rabbit 'stews' disguises the meat being overcooked, reheated and dry but this was not the case here. Desserts were excellent and clearly made 'in house'. In summary two bottles of water - still & frizzante, 4 glasses of wine +2 dessert wines, 1 shared starter, 2 mains, 2 dolci, 2. cafe and 1 digestivo (Varnelli). 115 euros. Only a shared personal opinion (me and my wife) but as an overall dining experience, whilst the food is relatively simple, it was prepared by someone who understands ingredients and how to treat them and also how to treat the guests. We rated it as one of only 5 occasions we have left a restaurant anywhere where we have not been able to find a single fault or however small. It will be interesting to see if the menu changes according to seasons and availability. We will certainly return.
