Antico Pignolo In Venezia

Very good food: Sarde e Gamberi as antipasto, Guancetta di Vitello as secondo, with Lugana di Zenato, a dream! Service excellent. Ambiance minus one star because. the scents in the toilets. Price/performance OK.

Classic Italian cuisine with real Venetian flavor and atmosphere!)

This special restaurant was recommended by my hotel, and now, 10 months later, I’m still craving the most amazing eggplant Parmesan and Pino Grigio I’ve ever had. It’s off the beaten path but near Piazza de San Marcos— down a couple of side-streets away from the crowd. The many white-jacketed wait-staff were professional and presented dishes and cleared plates as though choreographed— I’m not kidding! I was a solo diner, and I don’t speak a lick of Italian beyond menu items, but they treated me like a princess! This restaurant was obviously a local fave, I was possibly the only tourist there. It was the lunch hour, and the tables were full of suited business-people (mostly men). That eggplant parm was so good it defied all experience. The bottle of Pino Grigio recommended by the waiter who was translating for me was Venetian, inexpensive, and delicious. This was a very special place and a special lunch.
