Baglio Donna Franca In Marsala

An experience absolutely worth having at Tenuta Ansaldi both for the tasting part of their interesting wines and for the stay in the splendid baglio. The family and very professional management are that extra touch that make the experience truly perfect. The story of their family, of Giacomo Ansaldi's love and passion that led to all this being achieved, is narrated with equal love and passion by his wife, Mrs. Paola. Wine enthusiasts will find something to satisfy their curiosity.

To be honest they lost some of their star quality. When you arrive you get that real Wow factor. First thing you see is the wine ranks and the beautiful property, interior, swimming pool and the view. Its truly very nice. When you enter the room its oke as well. But after one night you know this is not a 4star bed. The bathroom is indeed soaking after one shower and you find yourself mopping the floor so you can go to the toilet without wet feet. The restaurant food is not what you hoop for either, very unfortunate, as i was looking forward to it. The wine tasting 30 euro)was simple. They poored the glasses told me what it was and that was it. I have not once seen service give a friendly smile or chat to anyone. I really wished for another experience. The kids had a real good time in the pool. It does make you wonder why its so nice on the outside but the essentials of what people need, like a good bed, shower and food is not up to the same level. That would be my tip.

During the exchange for the reservation, the crew were very responsive over email and also over the phone and very flexible. The food at the restaurant was very nice and there were lots of space, not so crowded although in conséquence few dishes were not available which is understandable. We had private winery tour because the English tour group became too big with another group for wine tasting. We were a family of 6. We don’t really enjoy wine but we enjoy fully our stay. Also we did not forget shopping few wine bottles for gifts and several local jams. I also give 5 stars for its location. You can make a day trip if you plan the itinerary with ‘ Saline of the Laguna Marsala’, ‘Erice’, Cala Rossa, San Vito LoCapo which are nearby, you can bundle together with Baglio Donna Franca restaurant and wine tour (or wine tasting) with part of the nearby location according to your availability and taste.
