Cena di San Silvestro alla carta, piatti buonissimi e abbondanti, personale gentile e attento, locale elegante e accogliente. Una pecca..abbiamo prenotato 20 giorni prima per paura di non trovare posto, chiedendo esplicitamente se avrebbero cambiato il menù per la sera di Capodanno, ci dissero di no ma al nostro arrivo abbiamo trovato un menù diverso con prezzi assai più alti del normale, più una maggiorazione del 12% sul servizio..diciamo che questa "sorpresina" non ci è proprio piaciuta.. non tanto per i prezzi rialzati ma per il fatto che non ci è stato detto sin da subito.. comunque nel complesso abbiamo mangiato molto bene!

We happened to be passing and were attracted by the outside tables on a pontoon on the Guidecca canal on a sunny afternoon. We were warmly welcomed and the service was prompt and we were soon perusing the menu. I ordered a mushroom pizza and my wife ordered spaghetti carbonara which she said was very tasty indeed. My pizza was thin and laden with mushrooms - and very reasonably priced. My wife had a Campari soda and we had two glasses of red wine between us. The service was competent, attentive and friendly without being pushy. The final bill was very reasonable for the location and quality of the food - we recall it being about €40 for everything including the coperta. The toilets were scrupulously clean and well maintained. We would certainly lunch at the Pizzaaria Da Gianni again if we were in that area and especially so if the weather was warm enough to sit outside enjoying the ambience.

04/04/2024: We came here wandering through Venice, the food looked good and had a lovely welcome by staff. Only when we sat down did I check the reviews and was unsure of what was to come but to our pleasant surprise it's worth a decent rating. Our food was delicious (although I admit ordering simple dishes on account of the reviews), we had: carbonara, pasta arriabatta, divolo pizza, bolognese and all were fresh and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was quite quiet but the staff were so lovely. I was interesting to read about the vinegary cold red wine, the waitor did tell us it was kept in the fridge so wouldn't advise but we went for the Soave white wine which is only 1hr away and a very reasonable and tasty grape. So don't order the house wine! Additionally, the couple next to us had a variable amount of dishes and none of them looked like a cautionary tale, in fact the prawns looked lovely and I wished I'd had them. I would recommend, don't expect the earth to move, it's very reasonable Italian food and compared to other eateries, very reasonable prices.
