Distinctive experience. If you're in a hurry, stay home or eat a sandwich. The owner, a super person as far as I'm concerned even if I understand that not everyone may like him, has his own particular personality (and thank goodness 🥹) he is not "like everyone" and manages everything himself: bar, lounge and kitchen. He certainly deserves great compliments, but in my opinion just one person who lends him a hand in the dining room would appreciate it, come forward young enthusiasts 😁 Guys...wonderful dishes, you can see and feel that he puts in all the love he feels for this profession. We took two appetizers, two second courses, a shared first course, a dessert (yes, we did it a bit backwards 😜) and a bottle of great wine. Very satisfied and full, dishes with a personality and not the simple boring classics, obviously very good. All products made by him, and psss for S.Tommaso there are two beautiful windows overlooking the kitchen so if you don't believe it you can spy 🤪, and all cooking is done at the moment, nothing pre-cooked or pre-heated and much less heated in microwave which is not really present in the kitchen. 🔝 The wine list is rich and carefully chosen. And finally the environment is also very comfortable, I personally felt very at ease, if not almost at home, a quiet, refined and elegant place and above all with lots of beautiful plants. In particular, for plant lovers, it has a Calathea that is ENVY 😌♥️ We will definitely be back and I would even go back alone 🤩

Having travelled from Australia and heard of Moderna’s gastronomic reputation we were delighted to come across this wonderful restaurant. An absolute gem in Modena. Delicious food, amazing hospitality and Matteo’s sense of humour and fun is very appealing to Aussies. Highly recommended in every respect. Thanks Matteo for creating a highlight of our stay in your lovely city.

Acqua e pane appena accomodati. Vino servito con cura, abbiamo scelto un vino biologico (Sangiovere superiore). Tagliatelle frigieri e gnocchetti di patate, paste fresche. Per nostra scelta, e per il tempo esiguo, siamo passati ai dessert Mousse au chocolat e Malakoff (charlotte alle mandorle con Grand Marnier e panna con frutta fresca di stagione). Porzioni adeguate, preparazione curata nei dettagli. Cucina a vista. Coerenti i tempi di attesa. Materie prime di qualità. Conto, in rapporto qualità prezzo, in linea. Una nota a parte merita l’eclettico proprietario che, a mio avviso, è professionale e talmente assertivo da forse suscitare controverse reazioni. Persona garbata, arguta e disponibile è aduso a mettere in chiaro subito i tempi necessari e le eventuali pietanze indisponibili, ciò rientrando nella sua integra serietà. A mio avviso occorre recarsi da Frigieri senza fretta, godendo di una location fresca e pulita senza premura. Prestando ascolto al titolare che, seppur copre quasi da solo le incombenze, riesce ad espletare la conduzione del locale con precisione e cura del dettaglio. Unica pecca è forse stata, nel nostro caso , l’accoglienza, per la quale abbiamo solo dovuto salutare, da dietro il vetro della cucina a vista, per suscitare l’attenzione, peraltro abbastanza rapida, del titolare. Esperienza complessiva più che positiva. La piazza San Francesco è veramente una bella location. Ottima carta dei vini con variegata possibilità di scelta per accostamenti culinari ricercati. A mio avviso è ovviamente consigliato recarsi da Frigieri con prenotazione e dopo aver preso visione del menu, ciò per consentire di ricevere un servizio celere e senza incorrere in equivoci.

Il proprietario è davvero preparato, un tuttofare, ci ha accolto con gentilezza nonostante fossimo arrivati ben oltre le 22. Cucina della tradizione modenese buona, ottimi i tortellini in brodo. Abbiamo scambiato opinioni sui vini selezionati ed è stato piacevole. Prezzo giusto. Consigliato
