Quattro piccoli borghi grigi (pare fondati dai saraceni) posati sulle verdi pendici orientali del Caprazoppa costituiscono l’abitato di Verezzi, collegato al sottostante paese di Borgio (con cui fa comune) da una accidentata mulattiera che culmina poi sul crinale del monte dove sorge la chiesa di San Martino. Ovviamente esiste anche una stretta strada asfaltata, poco adatta ad autisti neofiti ma assai panoramica. Nel borgo di Piazza c’è il Cappero, un ristorante di rustica eleganza dotato di una terrazza estiva da cui si gode una vista spettacolare che spazia sulla costa sottostante fino alla Gallinara e verso il monte Carmo. Pure essendo a due passi (ma verticali) dal mare la cucina tradizionale locale sarebbe di terra ma più o meno tutti i locali propongono piatti di pesce e questo non fa eccezione. La qualità è in ogni caso elevata come la attenzione al servizio; ho appezzato in particolare il fatto che la titolare non abbia avuto alcun problema a trasferirci di tavolo (come pure con altri) su altro più favorito, nel frattempo liberatosi, per meglio godere lo spettacolo dei fuochi artificiali di Ferragosto sul litorale. Da provare!

Four small gray villages (apparently founded by the Saracens) located on the green western slopes of Caprazoppa constitute the town of Verezzi, connected to the village of Borgio below (with which it is a municipality) by a rough mule track which then culminates on the ridge of the mountain where the church of San Martino. Obviously there is also a narrow asphalt road, not suitable for novice drivers but very scenic. In the village of Piazza there is Cappero, a restaurant of rustic elegance with a summer terrace from which you can enjoy a spectacular view that extends over the coast below to Gallinara and towards Mount Carmo. Even being a stone's throw (but vertical) from the sea, the traditional local cuisine would be land-based but more or less all the places offer fish dishes and this is no exception. In any case, the quality is high as is the attention to service; I particularly appreciated the fact that the owner had no problem in moving us from table (as well as with others) to another more favored one which had been freed up in the meantime to better enjoy the August 15th fireworks show on the coast.
