I was in this place a few weeks ago, on a Saturday evening, and we were told that the place operates three shifts: 6.30pm, 8pm, 9.30pm. We agree on a table at 8pm. I don't comment on the quality of the ingredients used on the pizzas (even if the result is a menu that is decidedly difficult to understand, where the origin of every single cheese or cured meat is insisted on, but this is typical of contemporary pizzerias: okay). The pizza is the thin one, which has made this place famous, and which you may or may not like: for me, among all the thin pizzas, Egizio's is the only one that I really liked. Wide choice of vegetarian options too. Let's move on to the sore points: from the first moment it seemed to me that I was a cow, more than a customer, to be milked so that I would leave us as much money as possible. First I am offered a cutting board because "there is a bit of a wait for the pizzas", we refuse, spoiler: there was absolutely nothing to wait for, the pizzas arrive a quarter of an hour later. It was just a trick to get you to pay for the cutting board, and you get over that too. After the pizzas we are asked if we want dessert before we have all finished eating: we politely refuse, but the waiter insists on telling us about their desserts. All right, we get them to tell us: he proceeds, we all pretend to be interested out of courtesy, but at the end of the rant we confirm that no one wants dessert. Result: the waitress asks us if we want coffee or bitters, we refuse, and then we are asked to clear the table. It's 9.20pm, the new shift will start soon, too bad I still have 2/3 of the beer in the glass, a craft IPA which is also very good and which I had to down in three seconds at the cash register. A joy: the bill is lenient, honest prices. Final impression and advice: in my opinion, if you work such short shifts (an hour and a half for a pizza with friends is nothing), it is useless to offer so many niceties. It is useless to make menus that require a degree to choose the pizza, to serve beers that you won't have time to enjoy calmly, to offer desserts ten minutes before chasing the customer away. Leaving the table free immediately after finishing is fine, even in Naples it is the practice, but in our case we were not finished, and not because we were slow, but because simply if I order a 7 euro beer I expect not to drink it as if it were a Heineken any. In my opinion, if time is short, reward simplicity: a few beers, simple pizzas. Last sore point: our waiter (maybe the owner, I don't know) started talking to our table neighbors about the goodness of their ingredients, also denigrating other Genoese pizzerias, which may be the competition, but I found it an attitude incorrect and unsympathetic. I will probably return in the future, to test the service on a weekday and more calmly.

The pizza is certainly very good. While eating in the first shift, the service made a mistake in pointing out to us every 5 minutes that we had to vacate the table by 8pm. We were aware of it and we would have done it without making us anxious!

Really excellent pizzas, very slow service (more than an hour of waiting at the table to get a pizza). I found the benches very uncomfortable and the environment very noisy. There were eight of us crowded around an undersized table and we could only communicate with those next to us due to the noise

La pizza di Egizio è ben nota a Genova. La particolare sfoglia sottile della pizza, cotta perfettamente e condita con ingredienti scelti e di prima qualità che si sposano bene tra di loro. Le infinite proposte di birre artigianali tra cui è impossibile non trovarne una di proprio gradimento. Tutto questo lo conoscevo, ma non avevo mai preso il dolce ... ebbene il dolce è assolutamente all'altezza di tutto ciò che lo aveva preceduto. Complimenti a tutta la squadra per il cibo di primissima qualità, ma anche per la squisita cortesia ed il servizio accurato.

Ricerca spasmodica di ingredienti di altissima qualità, attenzione maniacale e cura nella loro combinazione, l’esperienza e la sagacia di Simone (il gestore), gentilezza e simpatia di tutto il personale…elevano, nella mia umile graduatoria, La Pizza di Egizio in assoluto al primo posto!! Provare per credere.
