We were desperately looking for a place to eat, and we arrived at this tavern (which by the way was the only one open).
The location is not at the top because it is in a fairly narrow alley but the tables match the environment and the music creates a relaxing atmosphere.
The food is excellent: fresh and tasty fish, local meat cooked very well and creative but elegant plating.
Friendly staff and fast service.
Plus the kitchen is exposed and you can see how the dish is made.

Small characteristic restaurant located in the historic center of Tropea. Its strong points are the authenticity of the dishes and the friendliness of the owner. The menu is really very "short", they offer few dishes and this is not a problem because what is served is all fresh and with an excellent quality/price ratio. I highly recommend it

Gaetano should be preserved as a national asset. Authentic, convivial, and clearly delicious experience. The pasta with Tropea onions was delicious and a must. If you pass through Tropea you absolutely must stop us for dinner!

Due soli locali aperti in una domenica di gennaio qui a Tropea. Locale piccolissimo soprattutto d'inverno quando non possono sfruttare lo spazio esterno. Cucina senza infamia e senza lode, da lodare la coraggiosa apertura invernale e la cortesia del proprietario.

Rustic environment with few seats, but very convivial. For me, the presence of the chef practically in the dining room is fascinating. Very fresh ingredients, and really excellent. Highly recommended

Dopo 1 anno mi sono ricreduto. Ottima cena con le mie figlie in ambiente piccolo (vedi lo chef all'opera) ma molto familiare. Un grazie al patron Gaetano ed al figlio Giovanni che ci hanno ben consigliati. Menù con poche portate e ciò significas che è tutto di giornata. 3 antipasti (2 selezioni di formaggi del territorio con confettura di cipolle ed 1 mpepata di cozze), 3 primi con prodotti tipici, 1 bottiglia di cirò rosè e 2 tartufi di Pizzo per appena 99 €.
Lo consiglio e straconsiglio. Ciao Gaetano, ci vedremo il prossimo anno.
P.S. Occhio alle partite di calcio, ahahahahah.
