Policarita In Maglie

Da tempo pensavo di andare in questo bar per gustare un pasticciotto e quando ci sono riuscito (verso fine ottobre) sono rimasto davvero molto soddisfatto. Inoltre, un signore, che credo fosse il proprietario, mi ha fatto assaggiare una monachina e devo dire che non ne avevo mai assaggiato una così buona. Il tutto accompagnato da un caffè, tra l’altro offerto assieme alla monachina, davvero ottimo. In questo bar si ritrovano sapori e odori che ormai sono rari, così come la gentilezza e la cordialità di chi ci lavora.

Bar and pastry shop very reminiscent of old village bars, a place to meet and chat. The nuns are delicious but the rest obviously isn't a joke either

A super friendly and very warm family-run coffeeshop. The gentleman serving us, his uncle, grandfather and other family members were all working behind the bar, serving quality coffee, delicious cherry and almond pastries, and genuine and super refreshing lemon granita (not the syrup kind). A real effort was made to engage with us in English (very rare in this part of Italy) and the whole family made us and our two kids feel especially welcome. Seating indoors was limited (though there were plenty outdoors) but we didn't mind as it was enjoyable to stand at the bar and engage with the staff. Maglie is a lovely town and I would recommend you make this coffeeshop one of your destinations when visiting.
