Il ristorante è situato in un bellissimo contesto, fuori dai centri abitati. La sala all'interno è super intima e confortevole con un servizio divertente e preparato su tutti i piatti e le curiosità sul ristorante, come ad esempio il nome: questo posto era letteralmente una vecchia cantoniera, un'area di sosta per i portalettere con una stalla per i cavalli! Il cibo non è stato da meno: regala un'esperienza montanara di livello, con ingredienti scelti e sapori decisi. Ci sentiamo di consigliare in particolar modo l'eccellente formaggio di capra con confetture, i ravioli al tarassaco, i troccoli, e il sorbetto NEL limone. Ci torneremo sicuramente, sperando che attuino variazioni al menù per assaggiare altri prodotti di stagione!

Ho provato diverse volte a prenotare ma era sempre pieno, ero attirata dall’esterno che sa ristorante storico. La cena non è stata pienamente soddisfacente, l antipasto fatto formaggio di capra alla piastra era stucchevole, le costine di agnello non cotte bene e il rotolo di coniglio abbastanza insignificante. Peccato

Sunday lunch very welcome. Quiet, typical mountain environment. Exceptional food, from starters, to pappardelle to polenta, to desserts. All at a low price. Recommended if you are in the area!

POLENTA AND GAME OF ANOTHER LEVEL! La Vecchia Cantoniera, the restaurant of the Hotel Alpino, takes its name from the place where it is located, after Castione della Presolana, near a path that leads to an easily accessible hut. Excellent stop to make after going up and down, as my two partners and I did. The place is large and has a classic mountain atmosphere that makes you immediately understand that you are in such a location. It is located on the Val Seriana road that leads to Colere and the Orobie Alps, therefore in a position with good passage. The interior is very welcoming and you feel at ease, perhaps the chairs could be improved. As for the service, I must say that it is excellent, the staff is not intrusive and knows how to do their job, knowing how to respond to customer requests. They don't rush you, as often happens in mountain environments, and they are punctual with their deadlines. The menu is simple but complete and offers many interesting dishes, especially mountain ones: the main dishes here are polenta (plain, with cured meats, meat, mushrooms, etc.) and game. As appetizers there are various local cured meats and cheeses and a gem that my friend had: fried polenta with lard (lard that literally melted in the mouth, very good and not greasy scrocchiarella polenta), as first courses we go with pasta with ragù game, Valtellina pizzoccheri, herb ravioli and the inevitable casonsei alla Bergamo. The second courses, typically mountain dishes, juggle various meats and game such as deer and roe deer, shank, braised meat, lamb and polenta. Very satisfying! There is also the possibility of having tasting menus for €20 (pappardelle with venison ragout, polenta flan with taleggio cheese and undergrowth, dessert) or €14 (salamella with polenta and dessert). The food... well, it's sublime. The raw material is tasteful and of great quality: as already mentioned, the polenta with lard is a gem, but also my ravioli with mountain herbs, dandelion and pesto were truly a great dish, tasty, new and with the right quantity. Consistent filling. I was also told that casonsei are a flagship dish: if I return to those parts I will definitely try them. Let's move on to the seconds. All three of us agreed to take the jugged roe deer: what a great choice! The meat is quite tender and tasty, not to mention the excellent sauce... all accompanied by excellent polenta. Yes, it left a great impression on me! We paired everything with a nice local red wine, very light and good. The prices are very fair for the quality and quantity: we are around 12-15 per dish, three of us with an appetizer, a first course, three second courses, coffee we spent €96, without the wine (which in any case have correct prices, all around 22 -25€!), therefore, it was like 25 euros each. Excellent and I practically never give it a ten in this category. I would say a super approved place, if you go to Presolana make a stop here, you will be satisfied!
