We celebrated a wedding. Good food, slow service. We waited a bit between the first and second courses. All in all not bad.

It was very pleasant, we had the internal room entirely reserved. This type of service, a special menu and therefore the food, wine and everything were excellent. Worth what our Guest paid!

Dinner before the marathon a few years ago. I order wines for a trip to the Supertuscans: Montesodi 2005, Chianti Rufina docg: very good, great body and persistence. Two years in barrique and 6 months in bottle. Exclusively Sangiovese grapes Then I go for a Mormoreto 2005, Toscana IGT: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (40%) and 20% Cabernet Franc; aged like the previous one and we are on the same level. Maybe even a little more structured. Finally a Lamaione 2005, Toscana IGT: while the previous ones come from Chianti, this one comes from Montalcino; pure Merlot; aging like the previous ones, but it stays in the bottle for a year. I would say that we are at truly excellent levels, of spectacular balance. To eat a mushroom flan with parmesan fondue: discreet. Finally a plate of pici senese with duck ragout: excellent! This place is definitely a mecca for wine lovers.

I come here each time I’m in Florence. Next to Gucci garden. The food is amazing and the service great. Today I had the gnocchi lamb ragout. It was perfect.

Waren im Dezember dort Essen sehr lecker gehen dort bestimmt nochmals essen. Kann ich nur empfehlen. Service und Ambiente waren auch sehr gut. Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und es war sehr gemütlich und ruhig dort. Ist etwas teurer als sonstige Restaurant aber dafür erhält man Top Qualität und Service

The last time we ate at Frescobaldi, (prior to this visit), we thought it better than its prestigious neighbour, (that not only carries the name of a world-class chef but a top fashion house). Pretentious service, over fussy food, was beaten hands-down, by Frecobaldi’s warmth and “real” food. So when we wanted a guaranteed top-quality meal to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in Florence - where else but Frescobaldi? All the usual things we loved about Frescobaldi were still in evidence. Superb service, warm, comfortable room and the prospect of a delicious meal to come. My wife began with a superb plate of “tempura-style” squid and prawns, with crisp zucchini fries - absolutely stunning. Which is exactly what my “special” of tagliolini, topped with white truffle, (fresh off the mandoline). For our main courses, my wife had the tagliata of sirloin steak, with fresh porcini - excellent. I had fillet steak with a green peppercorn sauce, which while cooked as requested and sauced as described, didn’t really showcase how good that kitchen can be. That is to say, I can have steak and green pepper sauce anywhere, I should have been a little more adventurous. Desserts returned to showcase the talents of the kitchen, with my wife’s frozen zabaglione, with caramelised orange, getting top marks. My pistachio semifreddo came in a close second. Coffee and grappa were both excellent. Being our 50th anniversary, I pushed the boat out a little with regards to the wine and chose a bottle of 2013 Mormoreto. I chose this on the basis that I believed I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Sangiovese grape. The Mormoreto wasn’t bad but some examples of Sangiovese we had from Frescobaldi, (during the rest of our trip), proved that paying €130 for a predominantly Cabernet blend was, in hindsight, a bit of a mistake. Wine notwithstanding, the meal was totally excellent and maintained our opinion that Frescobaldi is the best place to eat on the Piazza della Signoria.
