Ristorante Santa Croce In Positano

Great place. Hard to reach like most other interesting places in the region. The dining room has a breathtaking view of the Positano and Praiano bay. Place immaculately clean. Service friendly and competent. Wine list rich and articulated. Food: the "menu" is - as it should be - not huge but full of personality with many interesting recipes adapted to the local ingredients. We had a simple "tagliata with rucola and parmesan cheese", "Ciurilli" (impossible to explain: flowers of zucchine, fried with ricotta chees" and delizia al limone as a pastry. Taurasi dei Feudi di San Gregorio as Wine and ga great "grappa barricata at the end". This place i definitely a must go. I was forgetting: the tagliata was among the best pieces of beef I ever had in my life: juicy, tender, properly coocked.

We needed the break after a long hike along the famous Path of Gods trail and were very happy to have walked a little further into the village to Santa Croce. Just as the guidebook said, the views are spectacular but also well matched by the quality of the food. I have the specials (zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta cheese and lobster linguine), while my wife chose the classic caprese salad and pasta with tomatoes and local fish. All the dishes were well presented and really tasty, from the fresh tomatoes in the caprese to a very meaningful lobster and original pasta sauce. We did not try the desert, as we were still a bit thirsty from the hike but the selection was quite promising to the ear. Service was excellent, although we came towards the end of the lunch slot, so they were not particularly busy.
