Fawlty Towers! This restaurant caters for large coach parties so waiting staff struggle to accommodate a la carte diners. Neither my main course or dessert were available. No salad on the a la carte menu to accompany the main course. Food is nice enough but experience shambolic and pricey.

The dishes were decent. Good quality/price ratio. A big mistake, which happened to us for the first time, the waiter forgot to bring us the ordered glasses of wine and we had to dine only with water.

Excellent restaurant, a romantic atmosphere and excellent service. All dishes are well prepared, a dinner that is definitely worth it if you are in Lipari!

Ieri sera sotto consiglio abbiamo cenato presso il ristorante Chimera. Partendo dal servizio con accoglienza e premura verso il cliente veramente top, appena seduti al tavolo abbiamo avuto l'opportunità di osservare il panorama dall'alto, un qualcosa di indescrivibile, passando poi alle portate, abbiamo preso un gran fritto di pesce, e a seguire uno spaghetto cozze e vongole e le busiate con pesce spada e melanzane. Tutto davvero sublime!!! Abbiamo avuto anche il piacere di congratularci con lo cheff Pietro Gioè e tutto il suo staff. Un'esperienza unica che consigliamo a tutti. Per la posizione del posto e la qualità/quantità delle portate il prezzo è onestissimo. Ringraziamo ancora lo staff per questa bellissima esperienza! A presto Carlo e Vanessa

Peccato! Alla qualità della materia prima purtroppo non corrisponde un servizio adeguato. Abbiamo trovato eccellenti i prodotti utilizzati ma qualche pecca nella preparazione e soprattutto nel servizio. Per quanto riguarda il cibo la battuta di gamberi rossi era superlativa così come ottimi erano anche gli altri antipasti (gamberi in tempura). Sui primi piatti la prima pecca di preparazione legata a un piatto del giorno. La pasta con spada, melanzane e menta ci è stata proposta come fuori menù ma quando è arrivata abbiamo capito subito che in cucina avevano esagerato con la menta. Dei due piatti ordinati uno è stato mangiato a metà e l’altro è stato rimandato indietro perché il commensale proprio non è riuscito a mangiarlo. Il cameriere ha ritirato il piatto e ha chiesto se potesse sostituirlo con altro, richiesta che il commensale ha accettato scegliendo degli ottimi panciotti ripieni. Peccato che nel conto il piatto rispedito in cucina sia stato inserito e fatto pagare al modico costo di 26€. Questo è inaccettabile ed è la base della ristorazione. Venendo al servizio, qui parliamo di un ristorante che vuole stare a un livello superiore agli altri e lo dimostra nei prezzi e nelle proposte. Se così è, bisogna dimostrarlo anche nel servizio. Invece il servizio è lento e abbastanza impacciato, per avere i menu abbiamo atteso 15 minuti dopo esserci seduti e li abbiamo avuti solo chiedendoli (ah scusate non mi ero accorto che non li avevamo portati…), i piatti sono arrivati in tempi brevi ma non tutti insieme, facendo si che alcuni commensali abbiano finito la propria portata mentre altro aspettavano ancora di riceverla. Detto del piatto mandato indietro ma addebitato, c’è ancora da rimarcare la risposta alla nostra segnalazione dell’errore. Purtroppo ci siamo accorti della cosa solo dopo aver pagato perché una voce del conto ci ha incuriosito (la presenza di un “raviolo cernia” a 0€ mai ordinato e naturalmente mai mangiato). Leggendo bene lo scontrino abbiamo visto che il piatto rimandato in cucina era stato inserito e lo abbiamo fatto presente alla ragazza alla cassa. La sua risposta è stata che non glielo avevano detto e che “se volevo” poteva toglierlo dal conto. Ecco mi spiace ma un ristorante non si gestisce così, questa è improvvisazione ed è incoerente al costo.

During our vacation in 2022, my wife and I had some very good meals in this restaurant. Therefore we reserved a table for a Saturday evening in July 2023. However, the experence was not as the year before. Our table at the front was very nice until a guitar player set up his equipment next to it and started to play. It was not possible to have a conversation at the table and after some time the waiter accepted us to move to another table. It was soon clear to us that there had been a lot of personnel changes during the last year and that only the new head waiter could speak English. However, the waiter who could recommend wines was not English speaking. And when you need both of them for a wine suggestion, it all takes time. So our wine did not arrive until we were almost finished with the starter. The starter was a marinated cod, but it was not possible to taste anything but salt in the food. After that the evening turned better. The wine arrived at last and the remaining parts of the meal were delicious. Even the guitar player at the other end of the restaurant was enjoyable. If this restaurant would get a better grip of how they organize the waiters, it will be a benefit for all. The most skilled and multi-lingual waiter should be cleaning tables while the others are free, but can not serve and communicate with the many international guests.
