24/11/2023: Antiche Cantine del Porticello is a charming cantina on the very fringe of the Old Town and a great stopping place for tasting some of the area's best wines. Above the entry doorway there's a sign that reads "Enoteca del porticello dal 1605", meaning, port wine cellar since 1605. Although not much to look at from the outside, it really is a charming, warm and intimate wine cellar and has an amazing medieval internal building structure and ambience. It has a musty smell which gives it that added air of authenticity. The red, white and sparkling wines on offer are great and priced to give good value. The staff and the owner are also excellent, very friendly and provide great service. We enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended.
