Lunch on a Thursday in March, after the visit to the Abbey of Sant'Antimo. Vintage place from the 80s, now certain things have made the rounds and are appreciated, clean and tidy. Lady who manages with little help. Homemade pici with Chianina ragù that deserve to go specifically to that place! Not to be missed!

In Castelnuovo dell'Abate near the Abbey of Sant'Antimo in this place you feel like in the taverns of the past. Rustic and genuine environment, offers a good range of Tuscan cuisine. Today I had lunch with pici al ragout followed by a truly delicious rabbit with Brunello with a side salad whose flavor denoted the direct origin from a vegetable garden. With coffee the expense is an excellent value for money. So it's an address to keep in mind.

I visited as part of a 20 person tour group. We hiked nearby. Our reservation was prearranged. We were served a prearranged menu. Everyone in the group raved about the food quality. I do agree with other reviewers about the service. Our hosts were somewhat abrupt. Our table had to ask for more water and wine, despite more attention given to the table with our guide and tour leader. I agree this is an area for the restaurant to improve.

21/10/2023: Short break during the return journey from Rome and stop in Chiusi where I was lucky enough to meet the owner Mrs Valeria: smiling, kind, you can feel that she loves your business. The tart with cream and black cherries is very good, but the Ricciarelli baked by Mr. Armando are sublime. I have no terms of comparison, having never eaten them, but for me they are top marks. The savory focaccia with cherry tomatoes is also good. I will return to visit Chiusi and taste other specialties from Forno di Armando.

04/01/2024: Ci siamo capitati per caso a pranzo in orario quasi di chiusura, ci hanno fatto accomodare lo stesso e sono stato gentilissimi Ottimo i piatti e giusto il prezzo sia per la qualità che per la posizione proprio dietro piazza del campo Abbiamo mangiato all'esterno dove hanno delle lampade a resistenze per riscaldare
21/09/2023: We happened upon this place an thought it would be good. A few Hugo spritzers an beers later we were relaxed. The octopus salad was tasty and fresh. The Large Chef salad was magnificent. It had crisp greens, carrots hard boiled egg, cucumber, tomato, melon and apples topped with tuna. It hit the spot.
