06/04/2024: Nice view but terrible service! Very long waits and distracted and poorly prepared service. Here is the reason for such a low rating: we phone to find out if it is possible to have a table for four people and they give us availability. When we arrive, they make us sit down and from that moment a negative experience begins. The waiters are quite numerous but there is no presence of expert figures who can guide and manage a staff in which there are many tables to be served and distributed across multiple environments. We sit down, they bring us water and then a wait of over 40 minutes begins in which we have to call one of the waiters several times to remind them that we haven't ordered yet: a waitress responds by saying that she has many tables to attend to. Finally, another waitress arrives and takes the order: two appetizers and four first courses. Furthermore, we had to change from the dishes that were listed on the menu because the lasagna with nettles and white ragù was not available. A new long wait begins. They justify themselves by telling us that there were problems in the kitchen. Indeed, we glimpse comings and goings from the kitchens and feel a lot of confusion. Meanwhile, they bring us empty saucers. For another 30 minutes nothing arrives: the appetizer does not include anything cooked and therefore, although the kitchen may be in crisis, it could arrive in less time but this is not the case. Meanwhile, other tables also increase the intensity of the previous complaints justified by the long waits. Finally the starter arrives: discreet. Acceptable portions for the price. The appetizer is brought to us by one of the few waiters who takes care to pass between the tables and ask if everything is okay given that the situation is chaotic and many tables have not been served. We ask for some bread since the basket had not been brought to us and he is diligent in providing it. The first ones arrive in normal times. The lasagna with mushrooms and white ragù is not recommended at all: the mushrooms are only on the outside and the quantity of bechamel is disproportionate. The fettuccine alla Ciociara is good (excellent consistency of the homemade pasta). Meanwhile, around us, a family who has not received even a single dish after a very long wait, decides to leave. We ask for four coffees and then, even to pay we have to wait a bit because there is no person in charge at the cash register but it is necessary to intercept a waitress. The menu that does not show the allergen list; among other things, the waiters didn't bother to take it back once the order was placed but we had to put it on a table next to us. The costs are not low, given the quality of the service and some dishes, but they are compensated by the location. The view is beautiful and the place has an important history as attested by some memorabilia: a postcard of Ungaretti who stayed here, an article talking about the lunch that Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman had here and many other historical testimonies. The Art Nouveau furnishings and 1920s prints are also beautiful. Lacking in food and service: not recommended.
