08/03/2024: Aliano is not a transit town! You go to Aliano on purpose! Why? Because Carlo Levi, with his confinement, his "Christ stopped at Eboli" and his tomb up in the cemetery overlooking the house of confinement, changed as well as upset the lives of many Lucanians and Italians!
This is why those who go to Aliano go there to breathe that air, observe those alleys, those houses, those steep gullies that served Carlo Levi so well to make history and go down in history himself!
But after a nice walk full of history and emotions, whether you like it or not, it's time for lunch! And here history is made by the restaurant of the timeless Sisina! Enter, two large rooms! You immediately feel a sense of order and cleanliness! Her daughter Stella and Geny step forward! Two truly graceful, good-looking young ladies who welcome you with real kindness, serve you and advise you!
As the infinite courses flow by, you savor the exquisiteness of the dishes!
Prepared with love as well as great skill! Of those who believe in their work and do it with passion and commitment! Who truly puts their soul into it! Flavors that are now rare, unobtainable! But what Sisina manages to harness in those delicious and genuine dishes! And you who sit on this side, admire, appreciate and above all eat, eat, and leave nothing, you can't, not even when they offer you an encore! Finally one of their bitters! Prepare at home like everything else! The bill? Modest compared to the authenticity and abundance of the food! To the two wonderful hostesses! To the splendid venue! To historic Sisina!
The coffee? Without taking anything away, I give up! I get coffee in Aliano at the bar opposite "il Brillo Parlante" like in Naples, try it! And then if you want, just further up there is the Villone bakery and take home some genuine baked goods! So in the evening, after having retraced the streets of Carlo Levi, you can return home satisfied! And... if you feel sad you can always come back! We will do it!
08/03/2024: I ended up here by chance and thought the food was great. A menu for €30 including 1/2 liter of wine and water. Everything was good. Can recommend the restaurant. However, you should be hungry.
