Vögele In Bolzano

Traditional and stylish South Tyrolean inn, several floors, very good food, tip: the dumpling variation, South Tyrolean dessert variation for 2 people, very friendly service 👍

We enjoyed a lovely evening at the Vogele inn. We got a table on the top floor without a reservation. Our waiter was very friendly, courteous and on the ball throughout the entire evening. The room here is modernly furnished; different than in the other rooms. However, the more the room filled up, the hotter it became. A waiter tried to ventilate the room by opening the window. At the end of our visit it still got quite stuffy. The dumpling tries with coleslaw were very good. The veal schnitzel was nice and thin, but the breading should still have looked nice and golden and should have risen well. Unfortunately, we were so full that we couldn't order anything from the extensive dessert menu. The price-performance ratio was right here.

Hate to leave this place a bad review because the food was so good, but the service was SO BAD. Our waiter was incredibly rude and short with us, all of the men here were also very rude when we asked simple questions (i.e. where is the bathroom.) Every single woman we interacted with was incredibly kind, but all the male wait staff left a really bad taste in my mouth. We also saw them being nicer to other patrons: could have been racism towards my chinese friends who I was dining with, or blatant sexism towards young women. I normally don’t leave reviews, but this was so obvious and really tainted my dining experience. Haven’t seen this anywhere else in Italy.

I was very tempted to believe this will be one of those tourist trap places, but definitely not. We adored our food here, especially the dumplings plates we tried! Such a lovely way to experience the northen italian cuisine!

We liked the food and the service with the ambience.

Delicious canederli, schnitzel and bratkartoffeln. Beautiful space and great service! We love to come here whenever we are in Bozen.
